Château de Duingt, on the peninsula, is literally in the heart of Lake Annecy. Built in the 13th century, Châteauvieux was originally built on an island and underwent several modifications up to the 18th century.
This medieval fortress was owned by the Seigneurs de Duin for several centuries, then by the family of Marquis François de Sales, before becoming a residential château. The château, terraces and landing stage have been listed as historic monuments.

A second medieval château completes the geostrategic position imposed by the Lords. They were built in a highly strategic location, at the narrowest point of the lake, the glacial lock.
