Glacier de Bionnassay

74170 Saint-Gervais-les-Bains
The glacier of Bionnassay (430 hectares) is the smallest of the great glaciers of the French side of the Mont Blanc.
This glacier has a length of almost 5 km, AND ends between two mighty lateral moraines.
The hameau du Bionnassay located 1320m above sea level at the foot of the glacier is a privileged site. On the way GR5, the Royal Route to the Mont Blanc, but also from the neck or to the top of Bellevue, this site offers an exceptional panorama, for walkers and visitors.
  • Tips
The tramway of Mont-Blanc or TMB is the railway of Mont Blanc that connects the train station of St Gervais, le Fayet (elevation: 580 m) to the Bionnassay glacier (Station "'s Nest eagle altitude 2372 m). It is the highest railway line of France .

Many hikes and excursions on arrival:
    - The glacier of Bionnassay (2400 m): 1 hour round trip. Must hike! very easy .
    - The trail of the glacier Bionnassay (1 794m): 1h30 descent along the glacial moraine ?. The route joins the GR5 Mont Blanc by the chalet de l'Are to walk up to Bellevue. Challenging hike (crossing scales).
