From the village of Monnetier-Mornex, full of the charm of the Belle Epoque, head for the upper cable car station by following the old track on which the small rack-and-pinion train used to run, carrying crowds of visitors from the Geneva area up until the 1930s.
Level: Easy
Along the way you'll discover the remains of the old funicular rail track (bridges, station in Monnetier and track ballast). After climbing up through the woods, you'll reach the alpine pastures at the upper cable car terminus where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Geneva. The funicular railway was inaugurated in 1892 but it fell into decline in 1935.
