This lake is located in the crystalline massif of the Aiguilles Rouges, between Passy and Servoz. Accessible by foot only. Magnificent views of the Fiz mountain range. The lake and its island are nestled under the Pointe Noire de Pormenaz.

This lake is situated at the heart of the Pormenaz mountains. The landscape consists of granite rocks and more rounded bowls, peat bogs and small lakes (left behind by the glacier about 10000 years ago. Impressive diversity of flora including many rhododendrons in early summer.
