Her

background

Aurélie Laruelle grew up in Prapoutel in Isère, close to Les 7 Laux ski resorts. After completing her baccalaureate, she focused on the world of the Arts. She then attended the well-known Hypokhâgne and Khâgne preparatory classes for the competitive entrance exam, before continuing in her 4th year in philosophy. This academic path led her to pursue further studies in Art History and then to specialise in Heritage and Museology.

At the end of her studies, she passed the competitive exam and joined a museum and worked in a library. The Arts as a leisure activity forms an integral part of her life. Exhibitions, theatre, music and dance in particular have been a part of her interests since childhood. Aside from the world of art, Aurélie is also skilled at lake and mountain activities. She regularly goes hiking and enjoys snowboarding and splitboarding.

The 'Archipel Butor'

After having worked in Aveyron, then at the Château-Musée de Tournon-sur-Rhône in Ardèche, she settled in the Monts du Genevois in 2017.

Today, Aurélie Laruelle manages the Archipel Butor. Her varied duties give her the advantage of knowing the Archipel inside out. She is in charge of welcoming the public, the programming, the installation of the exhibitions as well as the inventory of Michel Butor’s office and the Manoir des Livres…

Aurélie, fuelled by the human interactions she can enjoy in her workplace with a variety of audiences (locals, as well as tourists, schoolchildren, etc.), makes it a priority to ensure that visitors want to come back again and to create a real interest in cultural sites. Passing on knowledge between the generations, accessibility for all ages to culture and above all artist’s books are central issues for Aurélie.

Aurélie is now one of the main players in the Monts du Genevois thanks to the Archipel Butor. The Archipel Butor is a key element in her field of expertise as it offers a new insight into and window on the world of artist’s books. However, above all, it’s also a real source of pride for the village of Lucinges in terms of culture, art and heritage.
