Her background

Fantine Odin has always been drawn to the Château des Avenières, a place that feels like home and where she grew up with her parents.  This estate dates from the 20th century and rose from the ashes after the Odin family bought it in the 1990s. Fantine’s father began renovation work on the château, making sure the surroundings were kept in the same style, and created a prestigious hotel-restaurant that has been recognised as a Relais & Châteaux establishment since 2014. As her parents have been running the estate for 30 years, Fantine sees the Château des Avenières as her home, and she started by helping out with serving and welcoming customers. She felt so attached to the estate that she saw a future for herself here alongside her parents, but they wanted her to continue her studies first. Fantine therefore went to study business management, and her first job was at an IT company. The following year, the came back to the Château des Avenières and was hired as an executive assistant. In this role, she was able to put into practice the skills she had acquired, and she worked her way up to assistant manager.

A family

affair

Today, the three managers of the Château des Avenières work together to get the job done, each bringing their own skill set to the table. Fantine’s parents, Nicolas and Laurence, manage the strategy and pricing, and operations and administration. Fantine is in charge of the restaurant and alongside her mother, she manages the staff and ensures the service runs smoothly. An ongoing task for her is to help the reception staff improve the welcome service for customers. Her role means so much to her, both on a personal and professional level, and she is always looking to develop her skills. Her motivation and loyalty to this estate that she has always known drive her every day to make decisions with the heart so that both employees and customers feel good here. Fantine’s brothers are also connected to the family business as they are the farmers who provide the restaurant with vegetables. They are also set to work on the Château des Avenières’ application for an environmental label very soon.

Fantine loves to spend time with her family outside of the business to enjoy her parents’ company differently. She feels at home in this quiet and calming region. When she’s not working, she explores the Salève by walking through nature and she looks after her horses, kept at her ‘home’, on the Château des Avenières estate.
